General Jackstays 1:350 (Hasegawa)

A universal photo-etched detail set in 1:350 scale from Hasegawa. This is NOT a ship model but a photo-etched accessory intended to refine ship models markedly. The set holds fine parts of railings and safety lines, the jackstays, which replace coarser plastic features and give a model a realistic look.

What the set is for

Jackstays are safety lines strung along decks and walkways. In 1:350 scale they cannot be rendered faithfully in plastic, so they are replaced with thin photo-etched parts. The set is universal and usable on a range of ship models where the modeler wants to raise the level of detail on the decks and the superstructures.

Building tips

Separate the parts with a sharp knife or photo-etch shears on a hard surface. Make the bends with a photo-etch bending tool for clean edges. Super glue (cyanoacrylate) applied in a small amount suits the gluing. Before painting we recommend a fine primer for better adhesion of the paint to the metal.
