The kit captures the British monitor HMS Abercrombie in 1:350 scale. The model from the Trumpeter brand comes as a full-hull version in injection-molded plastic with photo-etched parts and a stand. The dominant feature of the model is the massive forward gun turret with a pair of large-caliber guns, characteristic of monitors.
HMS Abercrombie was a Royal Navy monitor of the Roberts class, a vessel with a shallow draft and a heavy gun turret meant for shelling coastal targets. She carried two fifteen-inch guns (381 mm caliber) in a single turret. In the Second World War she supported the Allied landings in the Mediterranean, among other places at Sicily and Salerno.
The hull is built as a whole; we recommend removing the flash from the joints and gluing with a thin cement for plastic. Fix the photo-etched parts (railings, ladders) with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a base coat (primer) before painting, spray with an airbrush and bring the surface to life with a wash and fine accenting of the edges. You display the finished model on the stand supplied.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
