1:350 IJN Battleship MUSASHI is an extensive plastic kit of a Japanese battleship from the Very Fire brand.
Responsibility details are not available.
In size and in difficulty alike the kit belongs among the peaks of ship modeling. The real ship measured around two hundred and sixty meters, so the finished model is over seventy centimeters long and needs a place of its own in the display case. Very Fire builds its ship molds with fine surface engraving and with a great number of separate superstructures.
Musashi was completed in 1942 and together with her sister ship she represented the largest battleships ever to put to sea. Nine main guns of 460 mm sat in three rotating turrets, the armor was meant to withstand hits of the same caliber and the crew numbered over two thousand men. As flagship of the Combined Fleet she spent most of her service at anchor and was lost on October 24, 1944 under attacks by carrier aircraft in the Sibuyan Sea on the way to Leyte.
Glue the hull together on a flat board and let it dry weighted down so that it does not warp. Paint the decks separately from the sides; the result then looks more convincing. Fit the fine superstructures and masts at the very end, once the model has been set on its base. It is worth distinguishing the shades of the deck and the sides even though they are two close tones; otherwise the large areas look flat.
The kit is supplied unassembled and without a finish; the builder obtains the tools and materials for the build separately.
