This set from the Japanese manufacturer FineMolds holds accurate replacement barrels of 12.7 cm (127 mm) caliber for the main armament of the Japanese Fubuki-type destroyers, the so-called Special Type, in 1:350 scale. It replaces the plastic barrels of the base model with finer and more accurate parts. The set is not a ship model in itself; it is an accessory.
The Fubuki-class destroyers, designated the Special Type, were heavily armed Japanese destroyers for their day, of the interwar and wartime era. Their main armament consisted of 12.7 cm guns in twin mounts, complemented by powerful torpedo armament. They represented a significant step in the development of Japanese destroyers.
The replacement barrels are separated from the sprue gate with a sharp knife and bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Degrease the parts before painting. The set markedly refines the look of the gun mounts, and the muzzles read more realistically than in plastic.
This is an add-on set of barrels, not a kit. The base ship model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
