A 1:350 wooden deck for the cruiser Ching Yuen from Artwox Model is a small adhesive veneer set with pre-printed plank laying for the plastic deck of the Bronco NB5019 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a model of the ship but an accessory for one. The adhesive veneer with pre-printed laying of the deck planks is glued onto the plastic deck of the kit and replaces the engraved grooves with a real wooden texture. Ching Yuen was a cruiser of the Chinese Peiyang Fleet from the end of the nineteenth century, that is, a fairly small ship, and the extent of the set matches that. The cut is made for the Bronco NB5019 kit.
On a smaller ship the deck is divided into finer areas and a good deal happens in millimeters. It pays to work with tweezers with smooth jaws so that they leave no mark in the veneer, and to have a new blade to hand. Always cut at right angles, in one stroke and with a mat under the piece. A blunt knife does not cut thin veneer but tears it, and the grain then lifts. The order matters too: first lay all the pieces out dry on the deck, remember where they go, and only then take the film off. With small pieces the chance of mixing them up is greatest.
Once it is glued down, run the edge of a fingernail or a toothpick along the edges so that they adhere. The shade can be shifted gently with thinned wood stain, but on a small ship a very discreet touch is enough. A matte varnish at the end unifies the surface and protects the wood until you finish the model and fit the rigging.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit. The kit itself, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
