A photo-etched detail set for the Prince of Wales in 1:350 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. It is the main (basic) photo-etched set for the British battleship HMS Prince of Wales - not a model, but an extensive set of fine brass parts replacing coarse plastic elements. The set is designed for the Tamiya kit in the same scale.
HMS Prince of Wales was a British battleship of the King George V class, sunk by Japanese aircraft in December 1941. The main set covers the key deck details - railings, steps, ladders, gratings and superstructure elements. The model thereby gains a delicacy that injection-molded plastic cannot reach. The set combines well with the separate sets for the cranes and the lifeboats of the same ship.
Separate the parts carefully from the fret with a sharp knife or photo-etch scissors, make the bends according to the instructions (ideally on a photo-etch bending tool) and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) - plastic cement does not hold on metal. Long railings call for patience and are best glued in shorter sections. Work out the order in which the railings and superstructure parts go on before you start. The parts are supplied unpainted, so spraying them with primer and the ship color before fitting is recommended.
The photo-etched set is an accessory, not a model. The ship kit itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
