Prinz Eugen was a German heavy cruiser of the Second World War. Its main armament consisted of eight guns of 203 mm caliber in four twin turrets, two forward and two aft; the anti-aircraft defense was provided by twelve guns of 105 mm caliber in twin mountings along the sides of the superstructure. The numbers of pieces in this set match the full armament of the real ship exactly. In 1:350 scale it is the barrels that are among the most conspicuous details of the silhouette, because on a finished model they are seen against a light background.
Eight barrels of 203 mm caliber for the main gun turrets and twelve barrels of 105 mm caliber for the anti-aircraft armament, all in 1:350 scale. The barrels replace the parts supplied with the kit. The kit the set is cut for and the recommended fitting procedure are given in the manufacturer's instructions, so check the match with your own model beforehand.
Try the seating in the turrets dry first and, if need be, widen the hole carefully so that the barrel seats without play and without strain. Watch that all the barrels of one battery have the same elevation; mismatched angles show on a finished model more than any other detail. Wash and degrease the parts before gluing. Choose the method of gluing according to the material of the parts and according to the manufacturer's instructions; cyanoacrylate holds on most materials, but it does not allow the position to be adjusted later. Lay the paint on in several thin coats, so that the fineness of the parts is not lost.
The ship model, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
