A 1:350 wooden deck for the battleship USS Missouri BB-63 from Artwox Model in the blue variant is an adhesive veneer set for the plastic deck of the kit. It is cut for the Tamiya 78018 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a ship kit but an accessory. The adhesive wood veneer with pre-printed laying of the deck planks is glued onto the plastic deck of the model. This item is offered in the blue finish, that is, with a markedly darker and cooler tone than ordinary natural veneer has. The set is cut to the outline of the Tamiya 78018 kit.
A blue deck changes the rules of the game when painting. A shade that works well on the veneer has to go with the color of the sides, the superstructure and the metal parts of the deck, otherwise the model looks fragmented. It therefore pays to paint a test sample of the hull color and hold it next to the veneer before gluing. If you have yet to spray the surrounding areas, glue the deck on after them and mask the edges in advance, or protect the deck with a covering film while you spray. Overspray on wood is hard to remove, because the veneer soaks the paint up and it cannot simply be wiped off.
The plastic under the veneer has to be dry and degreased. Pull the film off in sections, press the piece down with a soft cloth and drive the air out to the edges. Trim overhangs with a fresh blade. A matte varnish is appropriate at the end; it unifies the dark surface, prevents glossy patches where fingers have touched it and makes later weathering easier.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit. The kit itself, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
