USS Montana (BB-67) in 1:350 scale from Trumpeter is a plastic kit of the American battleship whose construction was canceled during the war.
Responsibility details are not available.
This plastic kit captures a projected battleship of the US Navy whose hull never reached the water. The 1:350 scale gives plenty of room for the armament, the superstructure and the layout of the deck, while the finished model stays manageable in size for an ordinary display case.
The Montana class was the last American design for a classic battleship. Compared with the fast Iowa class it received heavier armor and a fourth main gun turret, and paid for it with lower speed and a wider hull that would not have passed through the Panama Canal of the day. The order was canceled in 1943, because shipyard capacity and steel were to serve the building of aircraft carriers first.
Work from the hull and the deck to the superstructure, because once the masts are in place the lower surfaces are harder to reach. It is practical to paint the deck separately and join it to the side only once it is dry. Thin features such as railings and ladders take separate photo-etched parts well. For display, consider a stand or a base with a water surface.
The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the package does not contain glue or paints.
