This is not a ship model but a detail set. The package contains turned metal gun barrels that replace the plastic gun barrels on a model of the American Montana class battleship in 1:350 scale. Metal holds an accurate profile, a sharp muzzle and fine detail that a plastic casting cannot reach.
Metal gun barrels markedly raise the realism of the main battery and of the secondary artillery. Cleaning up parting seams and straightening bowed plastic barrels both fall away. The set also includes further parts that refine the gun turrets.
Degrease the metal parts, roughen the bonding surfaces and fix them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) or with two-part epoxy. Apply a primer suitable for metal before painting, so that the paint holds well.
A detail accessory, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
