This is an accessory, not a kit. Artwox Model supplies a thin veneer surface with a self-adhesive backing and pre-printed deck plank laying, which is glued onto the plastic flight deck of the model. The accessory is cut for the Trumpeter 05629 kit; check before buying that it is the same variant.
Veneer is very thin and hides nothing beneath it. On a flight deck, which is often made up of several plastic parts, that shows most: a seam between parts or a slight step appears after gluing as a visible line across the planks. Fill the seams before gluing, therefore, level them by sanding and go over the surface with the finest sanding paper until it disappears. Sand down the ejector marks and any raised parting seams in the same way.
After sanding, wash the deck thoroughly in lukewarm water with detergent and let it dry; sanding dust is just as great an enemy of adhesion as grease. Lay the part on dry and check that it fits the elevators and passages. Peel the covering film off in sections and lay it from the middle out to the edges. Trim the overhang with a sharp knife in several shallow strokes. Apply the deck markings by spraying through masks, as they hold better on wood than a decal. A final thin coat of matte varnish evens the surface out and protects it.
