The Pzgr.Patr.39/43 is armor-piercing ammunition of 8.8 cm caliber which belonged to the 8.8 cm Kw.K.43 tank gun. The German Tiger Ausf. B heavy tank was armed with this gun. The abbreviation Pzgr.Patr. denotes a complete round, that is, a projectile joined to its case, and the number 39/43 distinguishes the version intended for this particular weapon. The cartridge case of this caliber is very long, so at first glance the round differs from the ammunition of smaller tank guns, and in 1:35 scale it is clearly recognizable even from a distance.
Ammunition of this kind brings to life the open fighting compartment of a vehicle, ammunition racks and bins, crates on the hull of a supply vehicle or a loose dump in a diorama. It also serves well as a small object that gives a scene its sense of scale and suggests action, for example beside figures replenishing ammunition.
Cut the surplus material and the traces of production away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and carefully sand the rest off, so that the shape of the tip and the edge of the case are preserved. Use cyanoacrylate to glue them; cement for polystyrene does not hold reliably here. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. It looks more convincing when the shade of the case is distinguished from the body of the projectile and the edges are gently accentuated at the end.
