DaLiGeJian Model 1:350 USS Smith DD-17 is a multimedia kit of the American destroyer of the First World War - plastic, resin, brass and photo-etch.
Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of the American destroyer USS Smith (DD-17) of the First World War period in 1:350 scale. It is a new mold; the package combines an injection-molded hull with 3D-printed parts, photo-etch, turned brass parts, masks and decals, including a photo-etched stand.
USS Smith was the lead ship of the class of the same name, the first American ocean-going destroyers, and carried the name of a naval officer who fell in the Civil War. It was launched in 1909 and served during the First World War. The Smith class comprised five units and was struck after only eleven years of service. These slim, fast ships with torpedo armament and steam turbines were a novelty for their day and the transition to modern destroyers.
The combination of materials calls for care: bond the 3D-printed and brass parts with super glue and the plastic with classic modeling cement. Fit the small photo-etched parts (railings) with tweezers only at the end of the build. Because of the small scale some parts are fragile - work calmly. The model comes out well after spraying with an airbrush and a fine wash into the recesses of the deck.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
