A diorama accessory from the maker ETA diorama with the motif of a metal floor plate in 1:24 scale. It is not a model or a kit but a surface with which an area of a scene can be covered: the floor of a workshop, the platform of a loading dock, the walkway of a hall, the bed of a truck or the mezzanine of a service area. A treadplate metal surface gives even an empty area a workmanlike character and creates a counterpoint to the smooth paint of a vehicle.
Before gluing it down, offer the surface up and trace the shape of the area, so that you do not have to fill gaps at the edges. Glue the surface onto a flat, degreased surface and press it down from the center outward, so that no bubble forms anywhere. The look of a floor in use comes only in the second step: a dark unifying coat flows into the grooves, a dust shade settles dirt into the corners and polishing the edges returns the sheen where people walk most in reality. Under the feet of a machine it pays to add oil stains.
