A set of small toggle latches in 1:24 scale, that is the catches that tension as the lever is folded down and pull a lid firmly against its frame. On vehicles they are used wherever a joint has to hold while the vehicle is moving and still open without tools: on hoods, on locker lids, on tool boxes and on battery covers. These are parts a plastic kit usually only suggests with a bump.
The parts are very small, so work with tweezers over a tray and separate them from the rest of the casting with a sharp knife, not with nippers. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Before seating them, mark the spots on the model so that the latches line up with each other and with the edge of the lid; a catch set crooked shows more than no catch at all. Paint only once they are seated. The latches used to be metal and stood out from the body color, so they can be picked out with a metallic shade brushed on.
The set is an accessory, not a kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
