LC2 White

A white shade from the Number Five brand, prepared for building plastic models. The name leads to the Lancia LC2 prototype, whose body rested on a white surface completed with colored stripes.

The subject of the white tone

The LC2 was a Group C car, that is from the era of closed prototypes, where the rules limited the amount of fuel for a race and forced teams to look for a balance between speed and consumption. It was built around a turbocharged V8 derived from the engine of a sports coupe, and in qualifying it was among the fastest machines of its time. In the races, however, it lacked reliability and economy, so it mostly did not reach the winning rivals. A white surface with stripes is the basis of its best-known look.

Use

• White notices every repair, so sand a filled spot before painting and unify the whole part.
• Stir the paint thoroughly before applying it so the shade is the same on all parts.
• Keep the coats rather light and add more of them instead, because a heavy application drowns the engraving of the body.
• With stripes, measure the edge out on a dry, cured ground, as it then holds better.

For modelers of endurance prototypes and for collectors of machinery of the 1980s. The shade also suits other prototypes of the same era and anywhere white is meant to be clean and not yellowed. It also works well under masking, where the edge of a stripe is meant to be sharp and readable.
