The C3 WRC Red paint from Number Five is based on the brand red carried by the Citroën C3 WRC rally car.
Responsibility details are not available.
The C3 WRC Red shade matches the red component of the livery of the French works machine. On the car it appeared as a bold complement to a white surface and to a dark gray, so it is a red built on contrast rather than on deep saturation as with Italian racing cars.
The C3 WRC entered the world championship in 2017 together with a new technical generation, which brought the cars wider bodies, an active center differential and far bolder aerodynamic items. Kris Meeke, Craig Breen and Sébastien Loeb took turns at the wheel, and Loeb won the Rally Catalunya with the car in 2018. Sébastien Ogier drove the last season of 2019, and the brand's works program ended with him. The car ran in a combination of white, red and dark gray, with the red carrying the brand identity. The brand has held it as its mark since earlier rally programs, so the tone looks familiar on earlier cars as well.
It aims at builders of modern rally machines, with which the trouble tends to be getting the brand tone to sit right against the decals. It will also be used on other French cars where red is meant to look fresh rather than dark. The subject is the works livery, in which the red does not make a continuous surface but wedge-shaped stripes run across the doors and fenders, which is why it is applied over masking on a model.
