Celica WRC White is a white Number Five shade derived from the team finish of the Toyota Celica GT-Four rally car, as the works team from Cologne sent it into the world championship.
Responsibility details are not available.
A shade named after the Toyota Celica GT-Four rally car, which the works team based in Cologne built for the world championship. White was not a secondary color on this car but the load-bearing surface of the whole scheme: only on it did the green and red bands of the main partner stand out, by which the machine is recognized even from a distance.
The Celica GT-Four joined a turbocharged four-cylinder with four-wheel drive and brought the Japanese brand its first rally world titles. Carlos Sainz dominated the 1990 and 1992 seasons with it, Juha Kankkunen followed in 1993 and Didier Auriol a year later, and in the mid-1990s Toyota also took the manufacturers' cup. A light body accompanied all three generations of the car, from the more rounded shapes of the late 1980s to the wide final version with extended fenders.
Modelers who build rally cars of the turn of the 1980s and 1990s and want a white matching a particular subject rather than a universal tone from an ordinary palette will reach for it. The line names its shades after cars, so the white from the Celica can be combined with other tones of the same scheme. Before a build it pays to work out the generation of the subject: the rounded car of the late 1980s, the more angular machine of the title seasons and the final wide evolution differ in the shape of the fenders and the wing, so the layout of the light surface looks different on every kit.
