Yellow is striking on a model but the most demanding of all shades on patience. The paint faces several coats before it lights up to full depth. This tone runs in the Number 5 line under the part number N5-C132 and takes its name from the car designated C7R 2016. Besides a body it suits covers, warning items and paddock equipment.
Sand the surface smooth, wash it and degrease it. Yellow will not cover scratches from sanding or fingerprints, and it rather brings them out. Stir the bottle thoroughly before use, or the settled pigment will stay at the bottom and the first coats will come out pale and uneven.
A white or very light ground belongs under yellow. On gray plastic and on blotchy filling the shade comes out toward olive and the irregularities beneath it show through even after several coats. Apply thin coats with a short pause between them and do not try to cover a surface all at once, as a heavy coat floods fine engraving and builds up runs on the edges. Thin it with the thinner intended for this line of paints, and the manufacturer gives the thinning ratio and the pressure in the airbrush in the instructions on the packaging. If you are going to varnish over the surface, try the varnish on an offcut first, as yellow shades sometimes warm toward orange under varnish.
For builders of racing car models who want a ready yellow for a given color scheme. It is the paint on its own, and thinner, clear varnish and spraying equipment are not supplied with it, unless stated otherwise.
