Speed 8 Green Pearl is a Number Five modeling paint in a pearl-pitched British racing green after the winning Bentley prototype from Le Mans 2003.
Responsibility details are not available.
A Number Five modeling paint whose name refers to the Bentley Speed 8. The word Pearl in the name is essential: the green on this car was not flat. A pearl component gave it depth, so that with the falling light it shifted from an almost bottle darkness to a brighter, almost luminous tone. It is exactly this shift that sets the shade apart from the flat British racing green you know from club cars. On a model the shift is best shown by the rounded surfaces of the bodywork and by the transition between the roof and the flank, where the light slides at a constantly changing angle.
The Bentley Speed 8 was a closed prototype of the LMGTP class and meant the return of the brand among the absolute elite of endurance racing. In 2003 Rinaldo Capello, Tom Kristensen and Guy Smith brought the car with race number 7 to the finish of the twenty-four hours as the outright winner after 377 laps. Second place went to the sister number eight with the crew of Mark Blundell, David Brabham and Johnny Herbert. For Bentley it was the first outright victory at Le Mans since 1930, so seventy-three years passed between the two triumphs.
It will be appreciated by builders of road and racing car models who want a green with the character of a particular car rather than a universal tone off the shelf. It will also serve collectors who add to their palette by individual crews and seasons.
Close the bottle carefully after taking paint out and store it upright out of the reach of children.
