Number Five put a deep orange tied to the BMW 2002 into its automotive palette as well. In the 1970s orange was a genuine factory choice with this brand rather than a later alteration by an owner, and on a small two-door body it looked exceptionally aggressive. On a model it has the same effect: it draws attention to the shape and does not let the car get lost among dark neighbors in a display case.
The 02 series was a compact two-door sedan with which BMW built its reputation as a brand for drivers. The 2002 version received a two-liter four-cylinder and became the most sought-after variant. Its sharpest form was the 2002 turbo of 1973, one of the first turbocharged production cars in Europe, recognizable at first glance by its flared fenders and by the lettering written in mirror image on the front spoiler. It was precisely at the time this version came about that the brand had the boldest range of paints in its history on offer.
Suitable for builders of road car models from the period when makers were not afraid of deep paints. It will also be appreciated by those who build cars in the spirit of period conversions and want a color matching what was then on offer.
