A Number 5 modeling paint in the Gulf orange shade, referring to the racing livery of the Gulf brand of the 1960s and 1970s.
Responsibility details are not available.
An orange from the Number 5 range, listed under the designation Gulf orange with a note for the 1960s and 1970s. It refers to the racing livery associated with the Gulf brand, in which orange appears alongside light blue. It is precisely that pair that makes the livery recognizable, so the shade will be appreciated above all by builders of circuit sports cars.
Stir the contents of the container thoroughly before taking any out. Orange pigments cover just as poorly as reds and yellows, so over a dark or patchy base the paint builds up unevenly. Unify the surface with a light base color and build the orange up in thin coats with a pause between them. The thinning ratio and the recommended thinner are given in the manufacturer's instructions; a thinner from another range can curdle the paint into grains.
On a two-color body, spray the lighter shade first, let it cure properly and only then mask and add the second color. Lay the masking tape onto a completely dry surface and press the edge down so that paint cannot creep under it; remove it soon after spraying and at a shallow angle, not straight up. A clear coat will then level the transition between the two colors, and the edges of the markings will disappear under it as well.
For builders of circuit and endurance racing cars who want a livery matching the subject. The model, the masking tape, the thinner and the varnish are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
