Martinirossi Light Blue is the light blue stripe from the celebrated trio of stripes of an Italian aperitif, which was worn by Porsche endurance cars and Lancia rally specials alike.
Responsibility details are not available.
The light blue is one of the three stripes with which an Italian aperitif brand signed dozens of racing cars. The trio of stripes, a light blue, a dark blue and a red one, lies on a white ground, and it is exactly the lightest tone that gives the whole combination its typical lightness. Without it the graphic does not work: the dark blue with the red on white on its own comes across quite differently and the eye recognizes the difference at once.
The best known chapter is the endurance Porsches. In 1971 a Porsche 917 in these colors brought home the overall victory in the twenty-four hours at Le Mans, and in 1976 and 1977 the Porsche 936 added two more. To the same family belong the circuit Porsche 935 and later the group-class specials of the Lancia marque. Anyone who builds any of them needs the light blue in a tone that goes with the remaining two stripes, otherwise the whole graphic falls out of tune.
The shade will be appreciated by builders of sports prototypes and group-class cars who want to have the stripes genuinely in the right tones and not in whatever was left in the palette.
