A relief-printed interior set, already colored from the factory, for the CH-47D helicopter in 1:35 scale from Quinta Studio. The instrument fit of the cabin gains depth and faithful markings in a single afternoon, without lengthy work with a brush and masking of tiny dials. The result stands comparison with the laborious combination of photo-etch and hand painting that detail of this level used to be reserved for. The set is designed around the Trumpeter kit.
The CH-47D represents a fundamental upgrade of the proven Chinook: the airframes of older machines went through a rebuild with more powerful engines, new rotor blades and reworked equipment. The D version carried the weight of US Army transport tasks from the 1980s through operations in the Gulf to Afghanistan and became the backbone of heavy helicopter transport across the alliance. Compared with the older machines the fit of the cabin also changed markedly, which this set faithfully reflects.
Before you start, go through the placement of the individual elements; they are applied to a painted and smoothed base like an ordinary decal, only with more care in seating them. Lukewarm water and a soft brush help to press them into recesses, and once dry the elements should be protected with flat varnish. Complete the cabin only after the whole application is finished.
