This item from Artwox Model is aimed at a finished model of the French battleship Dunkerque. According to the name it consists of deck covering and photo-etched parts with it, so it offers a step more than a bare deck. The builder obtains the ship kit separately. The outline of the covering matches the decks of the Heller 81073 kit.
The Dunkerque was built as an answer to the German so-called pocket battleships. The designers concentrated the whole main armament, eight 330 mm guns, into two quadruple turrets ahead of the superstructure, which saved the ship the weight of armor and allowed a high speed. She took a hit in July 1940 at Mers-el-Kebir and her career ended in November 1942, when the crew together with the rest of the force scuttled the ship with their own hands at Toulon.
Separate the photo-etched parts on a hard surface and never tear them out. Make the bends over the edge of a ruler or in a bending tool, otherwise the metal buckles. Fit the deck surfaces only once the base painting of the hull is finished, so that no overspray falls on them. A light filter helps to unify the transition between the metal and the wood grain.
