An injection-molded plastic kit of the famous ocean liner Titanic in 1:400 scale from Academy. The model represents the luxury liner of the White Star Line as she appeared in 1912. The box is laid out with multicolored sprues and holds clear parts, decals, thread for the rigging and a base for display; check the exact contents and the number of parts against the manufacturer's part number for this item. It is a large model: the assembled length is over 65 cm.
Titanic was a British ocean liner of the Olympic class built at the Harland & Wolff shipyard in Belfast. On her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York she struck an iceberg and sank in the North Atlantic during the night of 15 April 1912. The disaster claimed over 1500 lives and remains one of the best-known maritime tragedies in history.
Cut the parts off the sprues and glue them with liquid cement for plastic. The multicolored sprues allow the model to be built even without a full paint job, but a better result comes from painting it: a black hull, white superstructures and the characteristic yellow and black funnels. Rig the standing and running lines with the enclosed thread only at the end. Pick out the deck details with a subtle wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
