The item does not belong among kits but among the final touches to a model. It concerns the areas that are made of glass on the real machine: the driver's vision blocks, the periscopes and the sighting optics. This SX-Art set gives them the colored reflection and the depth that paint alone can never manage, and it markedly raises the overall impression of a finished vehicle.
The 2S1 self-propelled howitzer was the artillery mainstay of Soviet motor rifle units. A tracked chassis with light armor carries a 122 mm weapon, so the machine can change firing position quickly and keep up with the combat formation on the move. It could also cross water obstacles by swimming and spread to many armies around the world.
The work is done only on a finished model, when the paint is dry and the weathering is done. Free the piece with a point, move it with tweezers and seat it in a cleaned recess. We recommend lighting a lamp from several directions beforehand and trying out which position shows the reflection best. Remove any excess paint from the edge of the vision block before seating, otherwise the piece lifts. Artillery machines tend to have less optics than tanks, and all the more does it stand out on a finished model.
The howitzer itself has to come from another source; this item does not replace it.
