Kabuki masks for a model of the AH-1G Cobra attack helicopter in 1:32 scale, in the basic BASIC level.
Responsibility details are not available.
The AH-1G Cobra was the first production attack helicopter of the US Army and to this day it is among the most striking machines in its class. It has a slender fuselage, a cockpit for a crew of two in tandem, skid landing gear and stub wings with pylons. In 1:32 scale the model comes out large enough for every unfinished edge of the glazing to show on it.
A masking set cut from kabuki paper for 1:32 scale. The paper can be bent over a curved surface, holds without further glue and leaves no sticky traces on the surface once removed. The level is marked as BASIC; which areas the set covers and in what order they are applied is given in the enclosed instructions. The shapes are cut for a particular model, so there is no trimming of tape by eye.
It is applied before spraying, onto a clean, degreased and dry surface. Press the edges down along their whole length so that paint cannot creep under them, and spray several thin coats instead of one heavy one. Once the paint has dried, lift the mask off with tweezers, pulling at an angle across the edge rather than straight up. Leave the remaining pieces in place until the varnishing is finished, so that the glazing frames do not have to be corrected with a brush.
For anyone who sprays with an airbrush and does not want to spend an evening cutting tape. Working with masks is a matter of care rather than difficulty, so a less experienced modeler will manage them too.
This is an add-on set. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
