1:72 Culver PQ-14 Cadet Yellow Wings from the FLY brand is a kit of an American target aircraft in a striking finish.
Responsibility details are not available.
A kit of a small single-engine aircraft in 1:72 scale. It is not a combat type but a machine that served as a flying target for anti-aircraft gunnery training and could at the same time be flown from the cockpit. The qualifier in the name refers to the striking finish these machines wore to make them easy to see.
The Culver PQ-14 Cadet came about by converting a light sports aircraft into a radio-controlled target. It was a single-engine low-wing monoplane with an enclosed cockpit and retractable landing gear, small enough that the finished model takes up a minimum of display case space. The targets were used for gunnery practice, in which gun crews trained against a real moving target, and the ability to put a pilot in the cockpit made ferry and test flights easier. Over two thousand examples were built, so it is among the most widespread machines of its kind.
With a short-run kit expect to try the parts in place first and tune the mating surfaces. A small aircraft is hard to hold in the hand, so grip the fuselage on a wooden stick and apply the paint before the landing gear and the propeller come up. A rich warning shade needs a light base, otherwise it looks weak and uneven. Better to fit the cockpit glazing right at the very end.
The model is sold unassembled and unpainted; paints, glue and other accessories are not included, unless stated otherwise.
