Shaped landing gear bay plugs for a model of the Me 262 HG III in 1:48 scale, cut for the kit from Amusing Hobby.
Responsibility details are not available.
A landing gear bay is a perpetual problem when spraying. Cotton wool falls out of it, paper cannot be pushed into the corners and tape will not hold on an intricate floor, so overspray gets inside and a finished bay then has to be colored in again with a brush. Shaped plugs solve that simply: they are pushed into the bay, fill it completely and hold by their own shape. The model can then be sprayed without regard for what is inside, and once dry the plug is pulled out with tweezers and the bay stays in its own shade.
The set is worked out for the Me 262 in the form designated HG III and is cut for the kit from Amusing Hobby in 1:48 scale. The Me 262 was the first jet fighter to enter production service, and the HG designation belongs to its high-speed development branch.
Push the plugs into the bays before spraying, that is, at the point when the inside of the bay is finished and dry. Check that a plug lines up with the edge and does not stand above the surface of the wing or the fuselage anywhere, otherwise a step in the paint would form at the edge. It pays to leave them in the bay during filling and sanding as well, where they will catch the dust. Take them out only after the paint has dried, carefully and ideally with tweezers, so that the fresh layer at the edge of the bay does not crack.
For modelers who spray with an airbrush and want clean landing gear bays without drawn-out masking. A kit and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
