The mask 1:48 F4U-4 Corsair canopy airbrush mask is for spraying the canopy frames of the American carrier fighter Vought F4U-4. It reckons with the Academy or Minicraft kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
The canopy of the Corsair is blown into a pronounced dome and has few frames instead. That tempts you to conclude that it is easy to mask, but it is exactly with a low number of frames that every inaccuracy shows, because the eye has nothing to catch onto. A template cut exactly to this shape gives the frames the same width around the whole perimeter.
The target kits are Academy or Minicraft; those are bought separately.
The F4U-4 was a late version of the Corsair with a more powerful engine and a four-blade propeller that reached the units at the very end of the Second World War. It came fully into its own only in Korea, where it flew mainly against ground targets, because it no longer had the performance to fight jets. It kept the inverted gull wing that makes the Corsair unmistakable at first sight. Pilots liked it, because it would carry a large load of armament and would take a hit.
For builders of late Corsairs who want the frames equally wide even on curved glass and do not want to measure strips of tape with a ruler. The package contains canopy masking, and the plastic is a separate matter. It will serve on a build with a closed as well as a slid-back cockpit section.
