The kit captures the UAZ-T12.02, that is a mobile diagnostic station built on a UAZ off-road chassis. It is not an ordinary van but a purpose-built special that carried measuring and testing equipment out to the machinery itself. 1:43 is the classic car scale, so the model suits a cabinet among collector metal models and among other commercial vehicles.
Soviet transport could not do without mobile workshops, laboratories and testing stations. They generally came about by setting a purpose-built body with a table, instruments and drawer cabinets onto a proven chassis. The UAZ off-road chassis was ideal for that role: all-wheel drive, high ground clearance and simple engineering meant that the station reached even places without a proper road. A diagnostic station measured and checked the technical condition of vehicles in the field, without the need to tow them to a workshop. It is precisely the combination of an ordinary chassis and an unusual body that makes specials like these a popular modeling subject.
Put the body and the chassis together dry first and check the fit, and only then glue with an adhesive suitable for the material the parts are made of. The large flat surfaces of the box body will give away every irregularity, so a primer and a top coat applied with an airbrush in thin coats pay off. The frames of the windows and the door and the entry steps will come out well after a dark wash. Mild weathering suits a working vehicle - dust on the wheel arches, fine scuffs on the edges of the body and mud on the tires.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
