A model of the Type 003 aircraft carrier of the PLA Navy with the hull number CV-18, that is, the ship Fujian.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Type 003 aircraft carrier with the hull number CV-18, bearing the name Fujian, is the newest and largest unit of its kind in the inventory of the PLA Navy. It differs from the older Chinese carriers above all in a flat flight deck without a ski-jump ramp: aircraft are launched by catapults, so they can take off with a greater load of fuel and armament. The extensive angled deck, the island superstructure on the starboard side and the landing area with arrestor wires are among the things that can be told on the ship at first sight.
The model builds on what makes an aircraft carrier an aircraft carrier, that is, on the dominant flight deck and on the many-featured superstructure. The finished piece comes into its own on its own as well as as an addition to a collection of contemporary naval hardware.
The flight deck will take the most work. The boundary between the deck and the side of the hull is clearly visible, so it pays to mask carefully and to spray in thin coats. Settle the deck markings on a smooth base. Glue the small parts of the superstructure on only after the large areas have been sprayed, as otherwise they easily break off or get clogged with paint. Wash and degrease the whole piece before painting. The particular procedure and the recommended shades are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The model will appeal to anyone interested in contemporary naval hardware as well as to modelers who want a striking and easily recognizable piece in a display case. Paints, glue and other materials are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
