A wooden display base from the Cube RM range. The plan is square with a side of 45 mm, that is 4.5 cm, and the surface is in a black finish. A base does two things at once with a finished piece: it lifts it above the benchtop, so that you look at it as an exhibit, and it gives it a firm foundation to pick the model up by without touching the figure itself.
A side of 45 mm is a size for a single piece, not for a scene. It suits a figure, a bust, a motorcycle or a small vehicle in a small scale; with larger models measure the plan beforehand, so that the base does not disappear under the outline of the model. A black surface works as a quiet background on which the colors of a model come out and nothing draws attention away. In a display case it pays to keep one type of base for a whole collection, because it then reads as orderly and the individual pieces do not compete with one another.
For modelers and collectors who want to display finished work with dignity and do not want to make and stain a base themselves. It also serves as a unifying element for a set of figures built one after another.
The package contains the base. A model, a figure, a name plate and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
