Banana leaves 1:45 and 1:72 are Model Scene scenery vegetation — large, softly drooping leaves for tropical dioramas.
Responsibility details are not available.
A scenery vegetation material from the Czech manufacturer Model Scene. It is not a kit and not a finished tree — the package contains individual leaves on a carrier sheet that are taken out one at a time, shaped and glued into the terrain, or assembled into a whole plant. The dimensions cover the 1:45 to 1:72 range of scales.
The banana is a herb, not a tree — it has no woody trunk but an apparent stem formed by the sheaths of its leaves. The leaves are large, entire and soft, and in time the wind tears them along the veins into strips that fall toward the ground. Torn and drooping leaves are exactly the banana plant's identifying mark, and in a diorama they look more convincing than perfectly smooth ones. The plants appear by villages, on plantations, around yards and small fields in the tropical and subtropical belt.
Plant the leaves one at a time with tweezers into a drop of cyanoacrylate or PVA glue. Before gluing, bend them along the midrib and let the tips fall downward. For a more natural look, carefully nick the edge of the leaf in several places toward the center and open the strips out slightly. Assemble the plant so that the leaves grow from a single point and open out in a spiral. Hide the glued joint with small vegetation or a scatter. Older leaves can be toned gently toward ocher or brown along the edges.
This is a scenery accessory, not a model kit. The glue, the paints and the substrate material are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
