Figure heads with the Soviet SSh-39 or SSh-40 helmet fitted, in 1:16 scale, the A rendition.
Responsibility details are not available.
The SSh-39 and SSh-40 steel helmets were part of the Red Army's equipment from the end of the 1930s and were worn long after the Second World War. The shape of the shell is practically identical on both; they differ mainly in the inner liner and in the number of rivets on the shell. It is the helmet that is the most conspicuous recognition feature on a figure from this period, so the overall impression rests on its shape and on how it sits on the head.
These are separate heads with the helmet fitted, in 1:16 scale, that is at a size where even the expression of the face is visible. They serve to swap heads on figures whose shape or pose does not suit you, and to vary repeating faces in a larger group of figures. The manufacturer offers a B rendition under the same name; what sets them apart is not stated here, so go by the manufacturer's data.
Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder back carefully, so as not to touch the features of the face. Wash and degrease the head before painting. The head sits better on the neck surface if you first try it dry and fine-tune the surface with a file. In this scale the face is painted from a base flesh tone through successive thin glazes; paint the helmet only once the face is finished.
The set suits the modeler who builds figures or a diorama from the Eastern Front and wants the individual figures told apart. The figures, the paints and the glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
