1:72 Mig-17F O-max set (for Airfix)

Omask MiG-17F O-max set (1:72)

This is an accessory, not an aircraft model. The O-max set from Omask contains precisely cut painting masks for the canopy glazing and other clear areas, together with foam (EVA) plugs for the landing gear bays. The masks let you spray the canopy frames cleanly, and the foam plugs protect the inside of the bays from paint during airbrushing.

The real subject

The MiG-17 was a Soviet jet fighter that followed on from the MiG-15 and brought aerodynamic improvements. The MiG-17F version received an engine with an afterburner. The aircraft was widespread in many countries and used in a number of Cold War conflicts.

Use

• The masks are laid straight onto the glazing and follow the shape of the canopy frames exactly.
• The framing of the canopy is sprayed without laborious masking with tape by hand.
• The foam plugs go into the landing gear bays and keep paint from getting in.
• Once the paint is dry, both the masks and the plugs come off easily.

Who the set is for

For modelers building the MiG-17F in 1:72 scale who want to speed the masking of the canopy up and make it more accurate, and to protect the landing gear bays even at the smaller scale.

Neither the masks nor the plugs contain paint. The set is cut for the Airfix kit of the MiG-17F.
