Model of the US Navy A/S32A-49 aircraft towing tractor in the long rendition, in 1:144 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The A/S32A-49 tractor belongs to the ground equipment of the US Navy that sees to the movement of aircraft at times when their own engines are not running. Machines of this kind move aircraft about the deck and about the parking areas, push them to the point of launch and tow them back for maintenance. The word LONG in the name sets the longer rendition of the tractor apart from the shorter variant.
The real subject is rendered in 1:144 scale, that is at a size where the whole tractor takes up only a few millimeters and works above all through its shape and color. The exact composition of the package, the number of parts and the recommended assembly procedure are given in the manufacturer's description and in the enclosed instructions. Try the small parts dry before gluing, so that they seat.
Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder back carefully with fine abrasive, so that the edges are preserved. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts. Before painting, wash the whole model in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent and let it dry, because a degreased surface holds primer considerably better. Apply the paint in thin coats, otherwise the small details will be flooded and lost.
It will be appreciated by builders of deck and airfield scenes in 1:144 scale whose aircraft models lack support equipment. The tractor brings a parking area or the deck of a carrier to life and gives the scene scale as well as a story. Paints, glue and other models are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
