The motif comes from the flight deck of the British aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal, completed at the close of the 1930s and committed in the first years of the war. The name dates the form of the deck to 1939 and specifies the section with the words Nose Lift, that is the stretch of deck at the aircraft lift.
The base is formed by an acrylic board 3 mm thick, 280 x 180 mm in size and weighing around 170 grams. In 1:72 scale this area corresponds to a section of deck roughly 20 x 13 meters, which is amply enough for one model of a carrier aircraft along with space around it. The thickness of the board keeps the base flat, so it does not bend under a finished model.
The base is intended for a finished model in a cabinet, on a club table or under a camera. The model only needs standing on it loose; if you want to secure it against shifting, use a removable adhesive pad, not a permanent glue. Acrylic is smooth and sensitive to abrasion, so clean it with a soft cloth moistened in a weak detergent solution and avoid solvents as well as coarse cleaners. Before standing the model on it, wipe the board free of dust, so that specks are not pressed into the surface.
It suits modelers who build British carrier aircraft in 1:72 scale and want to place a model into the setting it took off from. It will also serve as a uniform base for displaying a whole collection. The base is offered as a standalone accessory; the model, the figures and a cabinet are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
