This set from the Czech maker Eduard contains precisely die-cut self-adhesive masks in fine Japanese kabuki tape for a model of the Fairchild Republic A-10C ground-attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. It is neither a kit nor a finished model, but an accessory that makes masking easier and more accurate while the paints are sprayed.
The masks are stuck onto the frame of the teardrop canopy and onto the wheel discs, so that after spraying the glass stays clear and the tires free of paint. Kabuki tape adapts well to rounded shapes, holds tightly and leaves no adhesive when lifted off. Thanks to that the canopy frames come out crisp and straight without cutting tape by hand. Before spraying, press the masks down carefully all the way round so that paint does not run underneath, and take them off gently once it has dried.
The Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II (nicknamed Warthog) is an American ground-attack aircraft intended for close air support of ground forces. It was powered by two turbofan engines mounted high on the sides of the fuselage and made its name for toughness and for the massive rotary cannon in the nose. The A-10C version brought modernized avionics and precision armament.
The set contains die-cut masking parts only. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
