This resin part from Quickboost, made by the Czech company Aires, brings a faithfully cast radial engine for a model of the American Grumman F6F Hellcat carrier-based fighter in 1:72 scale. It is not an airplane model but a detail accessory for more experienced modelers, replacing the simplified plastic engine with a sharp casting with the cylinders and the valve gear indicated, clearly visible in the mouth of the engine cowling.
The Grumman F6F Hellcat was an American carrier-based fighter of the Second World War and one of the key machines of the US Navy in the fighting in the Pacific. It was powered by the powerful Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engine, which gave the aircraft rugged and dependable performance. The Hellcat played a major part in Allied air superiority over the Pacific.
First wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water to remove any release residue. Cut off the casting block with a saw and sand the cut face with respiratory protection. Bond the engine with super glue (cyanoacrylate), not with plastic cement. Pick out the cylinders and the valve gear with a dark shade and a dry brush; dry-fit the part before painting.
The set is supplied as a resin part, unassembled and unpainted. It is not an airplane model but an accessory for a plastic kit. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
