Responsibility details are not available.
Stencils for the cockpit frames of the multi-purpose version of the Skyraider with the crew side by side. The set covers the outer and the inner side of the clear parts and is prepared for the Matchbox mold that the name of the item gives.
The AD-5 designation, later A-1E, belongs to a conversion with a widened and raised forward fuselage, where two men sat side by side. The space behind them could be adapted to various tasks, from carrying wounded through carrying electronic equipment to plain cargo. That versatility precisely lengthened the aircraft's service life and in Southeast Asia made it a machine that flew armed escorts and special tasks alike. Visually you will recognize the machine at first glance: the massive angular forward section earned it a whole range of nicknames and changes the overall silhouette compared with the slimmer single-seat versions.
The glazing has a large area and plenty of short frames that converge at various angles. Painting such a cockpit by hand takes hours and one inaccurate stroke is enough for it to show. The stencils settle the layout at one go and the inner part moreover makes sure the frame will not look translucent seen from above.
