Masking films for the Douglas A-20G attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. They cover the divided glazing of the cockpit and of the gun position and bring stencils for spraying the national markings.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Douglas A-20G abandoned the glazed tip for the bombardier and replaced it with a solid nose packed with gun armament. The machine thus changed from a classic light bomber into a means for attacks from low altitude on columns, airfields and shipping targets. Besides American squadrons it was used in thousands by the Soviet Air Force as well, where it was among the most valuable deliveries from overseas and not infrequently saw local modifications of the gun position. A low, angular silhouette and a long nose landing gear earned it a form that cannot be confused with anything else.
The cockpit of this type is assembled from many flat panes separated by narrow partitions. Cutting such framing out of tape means dozens of precise cuts and a single slip of the blade is visible along the whole length. Parts cut in advance turn that task into mere transfer and pressing down, while the width of the partition stays the same over the whole area. It is exactly on angular cockpits that the saving of time shows most markedly, far more than on the simple canopy of a fighter.
The shape of the parts copies the division of the panes on the chosen plastic model and one part of the sheet belongs under the glass. The stencils with the markings are in the envelope twice over. The procedure is the usual one: degrease, stick down, spray in several thin layers and remove once the paint has set. In the package are films only. Before sticking them down it pays to polish the glazing, because varnish then emphasizes every impurity under the edge of the mask.
