This set from Aires is not an aircraft model but a premium detail accessory with which, in 1:48 scale, you replace the cockpit of a plastic kit of the Cessna A-37B Dragonfly light attack aircraft. It contains resin castings completed by photo-etched parts; the exact contents of the package depend on the current edition. The set is intended for advanced modelers who want a cockpit with the sharp, fine detail that injection-molded plastic cannot give.
The Cessna A-37 Dragonfly grew out of the T-37 jet trainer and became a light attack and counter-insurgency machine. A pair of jet engines, good endurance and simple maintenance made it a proven means of close air support; it was used above all in the Vietnam War and in a number of other air forces.
First wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent to remove any mold release agent. Separate them from the casting blocks by cutting, never by snapping, and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate) - cement for plastic does not bond resin. Sand with respiratory protection, as resin dust is an irritant. Bend the photo-etched parts over the edge of a ruler and fix them with a drop of super glue.
It is supplied as an unpainted kit set in resin and photo-etch. Paints, glue and the base model are not included in the package.
