Shaped masks for the glazing frames of the latest Skyhawks in 1:48 scale. They are cut for the Hasegawa kit.
The M version was created at the beginning of the 1970s as a machine tailored to the Marine Corps, that is for the support of troops on the ground. It received a more powerful engine, a braking parachute at the root of the fin, an enlarged electronics fairing above the spine and above all newly shaped, markedly roomier glazing with a better view downwards and to the sides. The KU form corresponds to the machines delivered to Kuwait, which after years of service went on to another operator and flew from the deck of a ship. An airframe from the 1950s thus became a type that served well into the twenty-first century.
The most conspicuous difference against the older Skyhawks is the windscreen. While the early A-4s had low and strongly curved glass, here it is a taller, more angular part with flatter surfaces. Masking is therefore easier at first glance, but the frames are wider and longer, so even a small deviation in the placement of the mask runs across the whole length of the cockpit and shows. A pre-cut piece holds the line without measuring out.
