A large injection-molded plastic kit of the American carrier-borne attack aircraft in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. The model has a richly detailed interior, metal landing gear parts and, according to the manufacturer, a photo-etched part as well. The characteristic feature of the A-6E TRAM version is the small rotating sensor turret under the nose. The box offers a range of external stores and several marking options.
The Grumman A-6 Intruder was the first all-round carrier attack aircraft of the US Navy able to operate in any weather. The two-seat machine, with the pilot and the bombardier-navigator side by side, carried a heavy load of bombs and guided weapons. The A-6E TRAM version received a target detection and ranging system housed in a small turret under the radome, which considerably improved the accuracy of strikes against land and sea targets.
Use liquid cement for plastic and work in subassemblies. Finish and paint the side-by-side two-seat cockpit before closing the fuselage, and mask the large canopy. Glue the metal landing gear parts and the photo-etched part with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a primer before painting; good acrylic or enamel paints suit the period gray naval schemes. Choose the external stores to match the mission you have in mind.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
