The real subject

The A6M2-K was a two-seat trainer derived from the Japanese A6M carrier fighter. The rear seat for the instructor was created by modifying the fuselage behind the original cockpit, and the machine served to train the pilots of the Imperial Japanese Navy. It is precisely on the open and clearly visible cockpits of trainers that everyone notices small things such as the belts on the seats.

What the set contains

The package holds seatbelts executed as colored 3D decals of the SPACE line in 1:48 scale. The parts have a raised relief and a color print, so that once applied they look like separately made belts, while the assembly from tiny pieces is no longer needed. The layout of the belts and their position in the cockpit are shown in the manufacturer's instructions.

How they are applied

With decals of the SPACE line only the backing paper is moistened: wipe it with a damp sponge with a drop of dish soap and let the part release; do not immerse the whole sheet in water. Paint the surface of the seat and the cockpit first and let it dry thoroughly, then clear the surface of dust and grease. Lift the part off the paper with tweezers, seat it in place and fix it with PVA glue (white glue); the manufacturer does not recommend super glue, and do not use a decal softener, as it would attack the printed layer. The pliable material allows the belt to be bent slightly over the edge of the seat and so to imitate its natural sag.

Who it is for

The set suits modelers who want a cockpit finished quickly and convincingly. It comes into its own especially where the belts on the kit seat are merely suggested or missing altogether. The kit itself and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
