Inner and outer masks for the canopy glazing of a model of the Japanese Mitsubishi A6M2b Zero model 21 carrier fighter in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mitsubishi A6M2b Zero model 21 is a Japanese carrier fighter from the beginning of the war in the Pacific. The model 21 form differs from the earlier one in its folding wingtips, which were folded on the deck of an aircraft carrier because of the size of the elevators. The cockpit has divided glazing with dense framing, and it is exactly that which makes masking the canopy one of the most time-consuming parts of a build.
Masks for the canopy glazing of an A6M2b model 21 model in 1:48 scale, both outer and inner. The inner masks cover the glazing from inside, so the frames can be painted in the interior shade without the coat fogging the transparent areas from the other side. The finished canopy then has its frames correctly colored from both points of view, which on a glazed cockpit shows at first glance.
Apply the inner masks before you fit the canopy to the fuselage; after that you will not get inside. Lift the individual elements with the point of a knife and carry them with tweezers; with the fingers the adhesive layer gets greasy. Press the edges down with a toothpick along their whole length, so that paint cannot flow under them. Spray in thin coats, the interior shade first and then the exterior color. Lift the masks off as soon as the paint is dry to the touch; after longer they peel away together with the coat.
The model, the paints and the glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
