A photo-etched detail set from the Czech maker Hauler in 1:48 scale for the plastic model of the anti-aircraft version of the British Crusader cruiser tank. The set is cut for the Tamiya kit and completes it with parts that come out disproportionately thick in plastic. Neither the model of the tank nor the weapon is included in the package.
The anti-aircraft versions of the Crusader came about by replacing the original turret with an open superstructure carrying anti-aircraft armament. The Crusader chassis suited that, because it was fast and could keep up with advancing tank units, which needed protection against attack from the air. As the war went on and the Allies gained air superiority, these vehicles lost part of their purpose and a number of them ended up in auxiliary roles.
On an ordinary tank nobody will see most of the inside. Here it is different: the open turret can be seen into from above and from the side, so the photo-etched parts added in it really are visible once the model is finished. That also dictates the sequence: paint and weather the inside before you close the turret up with the surrounding walls, as later a brush will not reach in there. Glue the fine grates and brackets last and only in negligible drops of super glue. Degrease the metal before painting and use a primer for metal, because in an open turret a model is inevitably held by exactly these places during handling.
This is an accessory set, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
