A/B-26 Invader 1:48, masks for the national insignia of the Second World War let the stars and markings be sprayed in the form the machines carried at the end of the conflict. Intended for the ICM kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet for spraying the stars, bars and accompanying markings of the Invader in 1:48 scale, in the form of the last year of the fighting against Germany and Japan. The target kit is ICM.
The Douglas Invader reached combat units only in the autumn of 1944, that is at a time when air superiority had long been decided. Even so it made its mark: it was fast, it carried more than the older twin-engine bombers and its fixed firepower in the nose made it a dangerous opponent for ground targets. Over western Europe it attacked bridges, railway stations and columns, and in the Pacific airfields and shipping. Pilots valued above all its speed close to the ground, thanks to which the machine quickly slipped out of reach of the anti-aircraft defenses.
The markings of this period consist of large areas of solid color, and that is exactly where a decal shows up worst. On the broad area of the wing the carrier film shows as a slight glossy step and during weathering the edge likes to flake away. Spraying through a mask knows no such problem: the insignia sits directly in the paint, a scuffed edge or fading can be taken across it and seen from the side no raised area is left behind.
